Earlier this month we got to enjoy a Durham Bulls baseball game with several of my coworkers.  It was a lot of fun.  The game was looooong and the Bulls finally pulled out a win in the bottom of the 11th inning!  Brian and I left after the bottom of the 10th because it was getting late.  I remember going through a torrential downpour on the way home and we got to see some incredible lightning.

This past weekend Brian and I took a trip to Bryson City, NC for a long weekend away and some mountain biking on the Tsali in the Nantahala National Forest.  These trails were once among the top 10 mountain biking trails in the country—or so I’ve been told.  Tsali is the name of a Native American that used to live at the mouth of the Fontana river.  The river has since been dammed and the trails

For not having a lot of plans, this weekend turned out to be busy. Friday I got a haircut.  It was just a trim, but I think I’ve determined that come July I’m chopping it all off.  As of right now, I’ve decided that I’m ready to bite the bullet and go for the pixie cut!  I would like to be able to donate my hair to locks of love, so I still have a couple more inches to go in order to do that.

Yesterday, Brian and I got to go visit some sweet friends and meet the newest member of their family.  This is Mary Wallace and she is one of the prettiest babies I’ve seen!  She was so content the whole time we visited and even opened her eyes for us some. On Monday, Brian and I ventured into a world of art I had never attempted before.  Painting!  We participated in a Wine & Design event entitled “Boat”.  I was excited all day thinking about getting to try my hand at painting.  Brian is definitely the more artistic of the two, as evidenced by his purse-making skills; I reminded myself of that all day so I wouldn’t try to compare myself to him :)

So, Ring of Fire pulled one out and got the 3rd bid to nationals.  Yay!   BUT, not only that, wHagonweel ALSO made it to nationals!  We placed 2nd in our Region!  First time Debbie’s gotten to go to Nationals and actually play!  Will be much different than being a spectator!   May is a fun month. There is birthday after birthday.  Brian’s on the 7th, Kara’s on the 14th and Mary’s on the 21st!  Oh, and Mike’s on the 25th.  Wow!  That’s a lot of special days. And special days mean special red plates!  This year we got to have Becky around to celebrate.  She made the yummy cake and even decorated it with sprinkles.  Good job, Becky!   Becky went a little overboard

Once winter was over, spring arrived!  And with it comes new spring flowers & pretty butterflies.  Back in May or so we did some updating to the front beds. We removed the old scraggly boxwoods and added azaleas  a Japanese Maple   Some pretty blue/purple things…Sally would know what it is.  Oh and that scraggly boxwood was transplanted from the other bed.  It’s looking much nicer

Brian and I are one step closer to having a finished formal living room!  Over the last week or so Brian found several jewels on Craigslist.  We were searching high (Knoxville, TN) and low (Atlanta, GA) and every where in between for the perfect chair to create our reading nook in the living room.
